Sharing Voices Bradford Mission Statement:

Our vision is to work towards the development of society that promotes and safeguards wellbeing and good mental health as well as inclusion and involvement of all people.

A society that treats people from Black Minority Ethnic communities living with mental distress fairly while at the same time recognising and valuing their cultural, religious and spiritual backgrounds.

People with lived experiences of mental distress are at the centre of our work and shape its development.

Sharing Voices ensures that ‘choice’ and ‘participation’ remain central to our work so that people become active in developing their own pathways to recovery.

Sharing Voices is proactively independent and retains the right to enable people living with distress to challenge stigma, oppressive policies and services that affect their daily lives.

Sharing Voices promotes self-help and mutual support, through community development.

It enables members to develop collective action and participation in activities of their own choice including fitness, music and faith groups as well as activities around art and which are gender specific.

The outcome of this will enable people living with mental distress to live as citizens and play an active part in society.

Sharing Voices also offers advice and signposting to other agencies. It is also involved in debates about mental health and BME communities locally and nationally.
